  • Marketing = Advertising

All Advertising Is Marketing, But Not All Marketing Is Advertising.

People usually say that Marketing means advertisement. If you believe in that, then you are saying that you are fine with creating a dish (marketing) with one spice (advertising)

Marketing is no longer about forcing advertising down a customer’s throat or spamming them with calls or unwanted notifications, it is more about knowing your customer inside out, what they are interested in, build a relationship with them and then communicate your idea.

A lot of people believe that digital marketing is super easy and anyone can wake up one day and become one. People confuse Digital Marketing, Growth Hacking, Social Media Marketing, Email Marketing etc. and think they all are one thing — It is not so. You need more than an internet connection to be Digital Marketer.

Digital Marketing has multiple folds to it from Knowledge of paid marketing tools, SEO tools & techniques, Web analytics, Social Media Marketing tools & techniques etc. You cannot apply your bookish knowledge here; you need to get in the field, get your hands dirty, risk a few things, fail a few times and then succeed.

Digital Marketing is not limited to companies that are targeting consumers/customers directly. With the right knowledge and time investment, one can boost their brand awareness, develop greater customer trust, and generate an increased number of leads and sales.

  • Digital Marketer = Paid Marketing

DM is not about spending a lot of money to get customers but about finding creative ways of engaging customers. It can help you to go from 100 to 1000, but it cannot get you your first hundred authentic impressions.

  • MBA is vital for Digital Marketing

Theories always help, but I believe you don’t need a degree to be in the field of Digital Marketing. You need to be curious enough with lust for knowledge, making mistakes and learning from them. Big Companies, however, look for people with MBA though.
